Julia Jardim is a film wedding photographer working in the Douro Valley specialising in authentic, unique, alternative weddings of all sizes as well as elopements. Julia's photographic approach is candid, spontaneous, stress-free and authentic - something that could be called documentary, but Julia brings a strong and unique creative eye to all her work.
The Douro Valley is undeniably one of the most beautiful regions in Portugal and benefits from a rich and diverse selection of venues, most of them adorned by the magnificent Douro river and all easily within a short drive from Porto, a city that deserves a page of its own. The Douro Valley generally maintains agreeable temperatures in summer but the weather remains dry from April to early September, so changes of a sunny wedding in spring and summer are very high in the region.
Julia lived in the Douro region for many years and still considers it one of the most beautiful and unique parts of Europe.

Julia photographs weddings exclusively on 35mm and medium format film and has been doing so for many years. Most of her couples are already familiar with film as a medium and want that timeless, nostalgic, authentic quality in their wedding images, but other couples first choose Julia for her spontaneous, effortless, candid photographic style.
Julia focuses on what makes each wedding and each person unique and uses that as guidance for all the images she creates. She believes empathy and a genuine interest in human connection are absolutely essential to make a good photograph. For that reason, no two of her wedding galleries look the same - each is an honest testament to how it felt to be there on the day, amongst that specific group of people, collectively shaping their own story.
