Anna and Tom's was the first wedding I documented fully on film. It also happened to be my first time at Casa Sacoto, a bright, sunny and peaceful venue just outside of Lisbon. I don't think I could have chosen a more perfect scenario for my debut as a exclusively analog photographer - the slow pace of the day and the nostalgic, homely atmosphere of the venue matched the energy and aesthetic of 35mm to a tee. I also used medium format on the day (as I always do), but the pace and spontaneous energy of 35mm seemed to exactly suit the day, which felt like the perfect mix between a chic garden party from the 60's and laid-back family reunion from the 80's. I would relieve that day a million times if I could.

A wedding that felt intimate and full of genuine emotion, like a family reunion.

I remember walking around the garden at Casa Sacoto as the afternoon light was starting to soften, admiring just how comfortable and at home every one seemed to be: kids were doing headstands on the lawn; some friends were chilling by the pool while other sat and talking in the share; Anna and To could be seen walking from group to group holding hands and smiling. Time seemed to pass at a slower pace on that afternoon, and it was clear that no one wanted the day to end.
