Dulwich Picture Gallery Wedding
Rūta and Alberto gathered only their closest family members for their Dulwich Picture Gallery wedding - an intimate experience inside a museum, extraordinary in the best possible way. The ceremony took place in the portrait gallery, a room filled with paintings on every wall. Despite the small group, it felt like we were a real crowd. A wedding I'm not likely to ever forget. London wasn't displaying its best weather that day, but we were gifted with about 15 minutes of soft sunshine just after the ceremony - we used the opportunity to go for a quiet stroll around the museum’s beautiful garden. Rūta and Alberto come from different countries and some of their family members didn't speak a lot of English, but their joy at being tied together through the love of their children was so evident that it didn't require any spoken words to be understood. Rūta and Alberto both work in creative visual fields and had a very strong idea of the type of photographs they wanted from their wedding: images that felt honest, candid, spontaneous, artistic, truly unique.
Intimate weddings always feel like a surprise to me. Because they are sometimes booked just a few months in advance when I think I have already figured out what my schedule for the year will look like, I always think of them as the cherry on top.
